Funeral for John

Elder Bean spoke at the funeral of John Michael Floyd—Elders Godinet/Pututua were at the hospital and had just given a blessing to a patient when a Lady caught them in the hall and asked them to give her son a blessing, which they gladly did. It was John Michael Floyd, 33, who had been in a biking accident a few days earlier. John died that night so his mother contacted the missionaries because her son was a member and wanted a Mormon funeral. Since John lived in the Conway Ward area Bishop Gilger of the Conway ward was asked to conduct his funeral. Bishop asked Elder Bean to speak at the funeral on the Plan of Salvation and the Restored Gospel. I was the chorister for the two hymns “America the Beautiful” and “Battle Hymn of the Republic” and gave the closing prayer.

Flowers at Johns Funeral in the Conway Chapel.

Elder Bean is a gifted speaker and was asked to speak at John's funeral. He did a wonderful job. He included a personal touch because he learned that John was in the military, one who loved to shoot guns, was an EMT, and was in nursing school.  "Thank You For Your Service", John
