Guess Who's coming for Dinner?

Katherine Rees Burbidge and her daughters McCell and Brooklyn ate dinner with us on Sunday Evening.

The Burbidges stayed the night and drove home to Fort Walton Beach/Crestview on Monday morning--good use of our guest bedrooms. Katherine's girls are ballet dancers. They attend a school of the Arts dedicated to ballet.

Craig Taylor with his wife Dr. Susan Puls--She called Dr. Elder Bean and surprised him when she said she was his replacement in 2016 ! We invited them to have Sunday Dinner with us. They come to Florida several times a year to see her elderly parents residing in "The Villages" They brought a delicious white chocolate cherry pie. This will be her 8th mission.

Tuesday, we had dinner with the Kissimmee Ward Elders at Sazon Latino: around the table from Elder Bean is Radigan, Perez, Hemp, Oaks, then Sister Bean--We sang to the owners, Gabrial and Maria Juarez--their horchata is sweet.

Gabrial Juarez ringing up our bill at his restaurant. He is friendly to all the missionaries.

Senior District Activity at Blue Springs State Park--January 17th.

The Manatee's come up for air every 6 minutes even when they are asleep. Their life span is about 60 years. The scars on their backs are from the boat propellers.
Floridian Manatees swim in Blue Springs--they thrive in the 72* water that flows naturally out of the spring.
Hundreds of manatees congregate in the warm water during the winter months.

The Senior District: Westerns, Beans, Busaths, Hansens,Johnsons, Johnsons, Nielsons, Spencers, Boyntons
District Activity for January--a boat ride on the St. John's River at Blue Springs State Park

We saw several Alligators along the river. The mother gators lay about 30 eggs, half hatch, half of those are eaten as prey. She fiercely guards her eggs and babies--getting past mama is brave.
We saw gray egrets and a variety of other birds.
Notice the green foliage along the river--that's lunch for the Manatees who are herbivores.

We saw a family of yellow bellied snap turtles in the water lilies.

Sisters Spencer, Boynton, Johnson, Nielson, Busath on the boat just before our 2 hour tour.

We missed our Granddaughter's Baptism

Sweet one was baptized by her father, in Salt Lake City. We were thinking about her all morning and were sorry that we had to miss this important day. We had a nice chat on Google in the evening and she told us all about it. We are so proud of you, for choosing to become a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Fort Christmas--Cracker Christmas Festival--December 6, 2014

Elder and Sister Bean dressed in their pioneer attire at the Cracker Christmas Festival. There were pioneer demonstrators at the festival so we brought the mission booth and a replica of a Mormon Pioneer Handcart that we borrowed from the Youth and Family Camp . We used the Florida Orlando Mission truck to pick up the handcart from the Church Family Camp--when we arrived at the camp we ran into a major problem! The lock on the gate would not open so we could not drive in to pick up the Handcart.. Using creative thinking we backed the truck up to the locked gate with tail down, walked the 200 yards to get the handcart out of storage, pulled the cart to the locked gate, then pushed and pulled with all our might to get it over the gate into the truck bed. We did it, it fit, we tied it down, and we were good to go!
The children loved the handcart rides.

Elders Willard, King, Gottfredson, and Walker with Sisters Murphy and Lewis served at the festival--over 100 people contacted, with referrals, referrals, referrals.

Sisters Pierce, Muhlstien, and Domato--with pioneer spirit talked to the people at the festival about Family History and the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ.

At the end of the day. . . ..

Darren, Suzanne, Lauren, and Will Spencer visit the week after Christmas

Lauren, Darren, Suzanne, and William Spencer arrived early morning Saturday, December 27th.
Our first stop after a much needed morning nap was the Florida Orlando Temple--
Temple Work is doing something for others that they cannot do for themselves.
Those two teenagers, who are getting taller than their parents, did baptisms for deceased ancestors.
Will and Lauren, their parents, and Grandparents--Spencer and Bean went to "Wild Florida". We saw a lot of gators in captivity. We even held a small one that had its mouth taped shut. It was a beautiful 75* day! We scheduled a 4:30 pm air boat ride--luckily that is the time the alligators start swimming out into the Lake--we saw a number of gators, flocks of birds, and a beautiful sunset while riding on Cypress Lake. Our driver said it had been several weeks since anyone has been eaten by a gator. Lauren bought a T shirt that said. "Keep calm and swim faster" Below we see Suzanne and Darren with their ear protectors--the air boat motor is extremely noise--the gators hear us coming and submerge very quickly.

Here we are--Animal Kingdom--New Years Eve--a jacket day--enjoying the wonders of Disney with the Spencers. We went on a Safari Ride and saw animals in the wild, climbed Mount Everest, and went into Dinosaur Country.
